The Caniguard Duo antiparasitic pipettes for dogs are the new broad spectrum external repellent of the prestigious Beaphar laboratories that offer maximum protection to the dog against the 4 most common ectoparasites for 4 weeks: Phlebotomes, Mosquitoes, Ticks, Fleas.
Phlebotomes and Mosquitoes
Effective protection against these parasites that cause diseases such as Leishmaniasis.
Repellent activity (anti-feeding) against sandflies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) and mosquitoes (Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti) for 4 weeks. For short trips (less than 4 weeks) to endemic areas it is recommended to apply the treatment immediately before exposure. For longer exposures (e.g. animals living in endemic areas or traveling to these areas for more than 4 weeks), the treatment protocol should be based on local epidemiological information.
Ticks and Fleas
Treatment and persistent acaricidal efficacy for 4 weeks.
One application provides persistent efficacy against tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus, and Rhipicephalus sanguineus) for 4 weeks. If some tick species (Dermacentor reticulatus or Rhipicephalus sanguineus) are present at the time of application, all ticks may not be killed within 48 hours, but will be killed within 1 week. When applied at least 2 days before exposure to ticks, it indirectly reduces the risk of canine Babesiosis, transmitted by infected ticks (Dermancentor reticulatus) up to 28 days after application.
2 active ingredients and 4 key actions
Thanks to Fipronil, recognized for its insecticidal and acaricidal activity coupled with the same properties of Permethrin which also acts as a powerful repellent.
Active substances:
Fipronil:
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole family.
Fipronil and its metabolite fipronil sulfone act by interacting with ligand-regulated chloride channels, in particular with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitter channels, as well as with desensitizing (D) and non-desensitizing (N) glutamate channels (Glu, the only ligand of chloride channels in invertebrates) thus blocking the pre- and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes.
This generates uncontrolled central nervous system activity and death to insects or acarids.
Permethrin:
Permethrin belongs to class I pyrethroids which are acaricides and insecticides and also with repellent activity.
Pyrethroids disrupt the voltage-dependent sodium channels of vertebrates and non-vertebrates.Pyrethroids are also called open channel blockers by affecting the sodium channel slowing its activation as well as inactivation properties, producing hyper-excitability and death of the parasite.
Advantages:
Eliminates fleas and ticks persistently.
Treats against new infestations.
Effectively prevents new threats.
Repels phlebotomine sandflies (cause of leishmaniasis) and mosquitoes.
Suitable for dogs from 1.5 to 4 kg.
Characteristics:
Highly effective external antiparasitic
Comfortable Spot-On format with easy opening and anti-drip system.
Enhanced formula combining Fipronil and Permethrin
One pipette 4 weeks protection against Phlebotomine sandflies,
Mosquitoes, Fleas and Ticks
Anti-feeding effect
For dogs from 1.4 to 4 kg
From 12 weeks of age
Resistant to occasional contact with water (e.g. if the dog gets wet in the rain)
Reduces the risk of transmission of diseases such as Leishmaniasis, babesiosis or Lyme disease.
Medication not subject to veterinary prescription
Instructions for use:
Remove the pipette from the blister and hold the pipette in an upright position.
Gently tap the narrow part of the pipette to ensure that the contents are in the body of the main part of the pipette.
Break the upper part of the pipette along the indicated line.
Separate the animal's fur until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette directly on the outer skin and squeeze lightly several times to empty its content in two or three different points along the animal, from the shoulder to the base of the tail, depending on the body weight.
As a reference, dogs under 20 kg should have the veterinary drug applied in two points while dogs over 20 kg should receive the veterinary drug in 2-4 points.
Treated animals should not be handled or played with until the application site is dry and for about 12 hours after treatment. Therefore, it is recommended to treat animals in the evening or late afternoon to minimize contact. On the day of treatment animals should not sleep with their owner, especially if they are children.
Contraindications:
Do not use in cats or rabbits.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any excipient.
Do not use in sick or convalescent animals.
Use during pregnancy and lactation: During pregnancy and lactation use only after consultation with the veterinarian and according to the evaluation made by the same.
Special precautions: Store at temperature below 30oC. Keep the blister in the original package in order to protect from light. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiration date stated on the product label.
People with hypersensitivity (allergy) to fipronil, permethrin or any of the other components should avoid all contact with the product which, in very rare cases, may cause respiratory irritation and skin reactions in certain individuals.
